The Next iPhone Might Use a SIM Even Smaller than a Micro SIM

If you think that the Micro SIM currently used by the iPhone 4 and iPad, well don’t be surprised if the next iPhone version, be it the iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S might use an even smaller SIM, perhaps a Mini SIM card. This was somehow hinted on by AT&T’s wireless head Ralph de la Vega during an interview with AllThingsD when he explained that shrinking Apple’s Micro SIM would probably happen and that AT&T has joined Apple’s plan to use a smaller SIM card.

Mr. de la Vega said, “We think that making the card smaller and shrinking the size (of the SIM) is a no brainer.” There were also previous reports and rumors about Apple’s plan to shrink the size of the Micro SIM further. A couple of days ago, we told you the the iPhone 4S if ever it comes true might actually be a SIM-less iPhone which as we mentioned is a transition from iPhone 5 which will begin using the smaller Mini SIM if production pushed through.

With AT&T’s sort of confirmation, plus rumors from Japanese manufacturers who are involved with the iPhone production, it looks like we might be seeing a Mini SIM being utilized by the iPhone 5 after all. Apple after all is
