Sony CEO Howard Stringer seems to have slip that the company will provide the camera for the iPhone 5. Read on for details. Talking to tech journalist Walt Mossberg, Stringer, did a bit of a blunder in speaking of the effects of the recent tsunami was having on the floor of the production company Sendai.
He said the produced image sensors were not designed for Apple, and was delayed by the disaster. This is a bit odd considering any current Apple device uses Sony image sensors.
"It's always intrigued me," Stringer thought, "Why would I make Apple the best camera?"
This seems to back up rumors that have been circulating for some time around the iPhone 5 snapper. It has been suggested that Apple was set to abandon its current smartphone OmniVision camera (which has received rave reviews) for a Sony model - most likely the 8-megapixel model found in the likes of Sony Ericsson Xperia Arco.
Do you think Mr Stringer referred to the next generation of smart phones from Apple or Sony image sensors to find its way into other Apple device? The next two are in the pipeline, which would take the IPAD 3 and a new iPod touch, but we are still putting money into the iPhone 5.
